First Generation
I used to be Christian Aaangel, or just Aaangel as most of the people of this project knew me by (it was my nickname on our forum), these days I go by a completely different name - Xander Blackstar. Hence why this reconstruction of this site is currently hosted on www.blackstar.solar.
Between 2002 and 2007, I was the guy that kept this project going. All the way from the time that Mads Israelsen once in a rather commanding tone told me "Svend has signed me up for something and I need your help", through the time when we would spend countless meetings debating how to redesign a beloved internet application. Through the time when I was working on polishing CMOne, but couldn't help myself with coding early versions of CM2 and having to constantly hear Chris Turra's comments on what could be improved. In the early days, he was the only guy I would even trust to get a sneak preview of the next version. Chris kept me on my toes and at time made me go completely nuts.
Then Svend dropped out of the project. Because like the original coder Aryah Holzer, he had gotten to busy with his studies. I was annoyed because he had forced me to add elements that I wasn't sure was needed, but Svend promises to make some extreme scripts to show his reason ... only he never did. After him Mads dropped out, for pretty much the same reason. Svend was only in charge on the website, as the lead programmer that didn't effect me much. When Mads dropped out, it was a little different because he was suppose to be part of the coding although he never really had much time. As I recall it he barely posted in the forum. But I did share an apartment with him at the time, so I would often bounce ideas off of him. Something he never got the proper credit for.
Not long after that Chris Turra dropped out. Looking back he was clearly my main tester, although he never got the proper credits back then (Thanks man). Pretty much around the same time, Alex Band (8-Track) decided it was time to move on. I never did have much interaction with the guy, he was extremely active in the forum and online. But in my eyes he just happened to take over after Svend as the primary site admin. As this point I recall feeling very alone with the whole thing. I always envisioned CM would become something big, but before that could happen all the people I felt was hanging around had left. I was young and bored, so I probably didn't care to much. I still needed something to pass the time.
Looking back most of these people were just around to see the Original Coolmon (CMOne) of in a decent way. Because this was the time when I was finishing up the polishing of CMOne. In truth I never really understood the code, so while it might have seem like we were polishing off the code to the avg. user, I was the one making the original code base unstable. What happened after Aryah passes us the original code, was mostly dirty hacks on my behalf because I had no idea what polymorphing was.
Second Generation
I never paid much attention to the site and the forum. My time with the forum was mostly deleting spam post when I came across it. Around this time it was pretty much non-existant because other people would usually beat me to it. As a programmer I would rather spend time on developing and I suppose you could say I had people to do the dirty work. Initially it had been Alex Band dealing with that after Svend left, but when Alex left, Jeff Weston took over. I remember Jeff much better than Alex, mostly because Alex had mostly answered to Svend directly. But with him gone Jeff responded to me. I was never close to Alex, but Jeff was a different story entirely. We would actually communicate.
The second generation is what I remember the best of the Coolmon Project. I do so because at the time I had spend more than a year making Svend, Mads and my original design scheme for CM2 a reality. At this point I had created a very early alpha of the CM2 system with it's advanced plugin engine. At this point a young kid named Jorge Schrauwen showed up. I remember that guy as one of the most active community members of all time. Initially he annoyed the crap out of me, because he always seemed to invoke my pride in terms of abilty. In short he made me push myself much harder than I would have done on my own. (Thank you Jorge)
